What’s In Your Hand?

There are many of us today who are seeking and searching for a fresh new increase.

God has given everyone gifts, talents, and skills for our daily bread. Most of us use these for work, ministry, and service. But, what about hearing from God in a particular circumstance?

Let me tell you a story. A few weeks back during my talk with God, I told Him I needed a new income stream. A scripture immediately came to me: “What is that in thine hand?” (Ex 4:2b, KJV)

I pondered as to the meaning of this scripture and the following stimulated my spirit. As an entrepreneur, I am quite skilled in various areas within the information technology and social media fields. In business, the pursuit of opportunities for growth is vital to enabling improved service delivery to prospective customers. I decided to scan the UpWork.com website to check out a few opportunities. After a few days, invitations started to show up with job offers, and I accepted a couple.

But, our God is greater than just a couple opportunities, and at this time, He had a more marvelous plan in mind for me. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jer 29:11, KJV).

On Tuesday, March 7, 2017, I viewed an interesting post on social media that caused me to question the validity of the post and any connections with the technology I use at home. I then, following the recommendation of my son, decided to question my Echo Dot and made a video of this conversation using my smartphone.

The following day, I uploaded the same video to my Twitter account, and went about my daily activities. On Thursday, March 10, I began to receive numerous calls from five Media companies bidding for permission to license the video with compensation to me. I was astonished by the enormous interest and logged into my Twitter account to comprehend what all the engagement this one little video was generating.

Our God is awesome; what was in my hand was my smartphone! By using what I had in my hand to make this one little video, God turned the response into an increase in income I never sought or even imagined. I am glad that we follow the word of God where it lets us know that if you do not rob Him in tithes and offerings, He will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings! “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” (Mal 3:10, KJV).

My teachable moment was to keep a fresh, forward-thinking mindset; always listening for the voice of God to provide clarity with entrepreneurship opportunities. We should always be attentive, listening for his directions. You never know how God will send the blessing, but you will know it is from Him.
