A Time For Restoration

Florence “Robyn” Smith is a self-motivated professional skilled in directing and orchestrating tasks to achieve overall mission objectives.  She recognized her principal purpose in life during her young adult life, to serve God and His people using her gifts of administration and facilitation.

Florence is passionate about using her gifts at her federal government job where she has held various management positions and serves as a mentor and adjunct instructor.  She remains dedicated to her church, the Gospel Spreading Church of God, serving in various capacities.  She mentors the youth and young adults in her church and immediate family, providing marriage counseling, parental guidance, and practical lessons learned.  She has conducted speaking engagements at numerous women’s gatherings and special church services.

In 2014, Florence established a Christian publishing company, Teachable Moments Press, as a confirmation to have her own imprint on her first book, “Afghanistan: 179 Days of Teachable Moments.” This book is collection of inspirational nuggets God used to teach her about His nature and how her life experiences relate to His Word. These personal events occurred during her Department of Defense 179-day deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan in 2012.

While conducting research for her second book, Florence discovered the need for a platform where the gifts of writing bestowed upon her family and friends could be shared with the world by way of an online magazine. In March 2016, she launched her newest initiative, Teachable Moments Magazine, which is an affiliate of Teachable Moments Press.  As Editor-in-Chief of this definitive Christian magazine, Florence manages the functions for its quarterly publication.

Florence holds a Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Technology Management, both from the University of Maryland University College; and a Master of Strategic Studies Degree from the U.S. Army War College.

She and her husband Francis spent 2.5 years in England and returned home to Catonsville, Maryland in June 2020. They are proud parents of Florencia “Christina”  (Calvin), Francis (TJ), Jr., Faythe “Kamille” (James), grandsons, Isaiah, Titus and Jayson, and granddaughters, Lauren and London.

Florence believes that inside of every person is boundless potential, and it is her passion to help them achieve their calling.
