As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season are upon us and as we run around town searching for the perfect Christmas gifts for our family and friends. We’d be remiss if that perfect gift wasn’t wrapped with pretty paper, a name tag and sometimes even a bow or ribbon. We do all of this when the most important piece is on the inside of the box. So, as we close out 2017 and prepare to enter 2018; I have to ask you what’s in your box?
During this holiday season, as we spend time celebrating the birth of Jesus with family and friends, don’t forget to take some time to examine your contents. Sometimes we wear the wrapping so long that we forget who we genuinely are. As we have wrapped ourselves in pretty paper and put on our bow, we thought that the inside would automatically change because the outer appearance changed. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that would be an incorrect assumption. Eventually, the tape starts to come loose, and we begin to find ourselves adding more tape to keep what’s in the box covered.
So, I know you’re wondering; how do we deal with the contents of our box? First, we must recognize that we are covered with wrapping paper. Second, we have to remove the paper. Third, we must deal with the contents of our box. This last step is the hardest because it causes us to take off our tinted lenses (blinders) and look at those things as they are and we then have to determine how to correct them. So, here’s your homework assignment for the remainder of 2017 that will ensure you are wearing your REDESIGNED you for 2018. Get a mirror and begin to talk to yourself. Yes, you read that right, I want YOU to open your mouth and talk to YOU. And when you talk to yourself I want you to release yourself from fear, past hurts, lack of confidence, lying and anything else that has you bound. Now, be specific in your conversation, and tell those things to go and never return. For everything you’ve bound, you must replace it with what you want- fearless, healed, confident, honest, etc. Yes, it will take some consistency on your part to ensure that they don’t rear their ugly head again, but you are on your way to making sure the contents of your box look just as lovely as the wrapping paper. Guess what? God loves us and REDESIGNED looks G-O-O-D on YOU!
