Travel:  Think of the Possibilities

With God, nothing is impossible!

When my Granddaughter London was born in 2014, I used to say to her, “London, one day we’ll take you to the London Bridge in England!”  Europe was not in my vision at the time, but not dismissed as a possibility in the future (since my last adventure to Afghanistan).

Not only did Frank and I enjoy God’s blessings to travel and live in the Midlands of England, but all of our children came to visit us and walked the famous London Bridge!

When our children were young, we robbed Peter to pay Paul to take them on vacation to Disney World, the beaches of Florida, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Upstate New York, Canada, and other places.  We stretched our dollars because we knew we had one life to live and we didn’t want to miss the possibility of exposing them to other adventures outside of our Maryland zip code.

I used to tell my mother that I wanted to see the world…she would shake her head and say, “You’re such a determined child, and you’ll go far in life.”

As I share an excerpt from my book, “Afghanistan: 179 Days of Teachable Moments”, I recognize our travels are a part of God’s plan for our lives.

“Why Afghanistan? On occasion, God has to take you out of your comfort zone and send you to an unfamiliar place to allow you to experience a different culture and enter into a realm of His presence that is extraordinary.”

As you peruse this quarter’s edition, you’ll travel to places where our talented authors have been; whether abroad, within their own zip code or on life’s journey.  I know you too will reminiscence the places you’ve traveled and contemplated the possibilities of exotic places to visit in the future.

Let’s welcome our two newest authors, Shawn Y. Smith and Nicole Hicks.
