2022: MARCH INSPIRE

You Hurt. I Hurt.

Jesus Wept.

Hmmmm. What would cause our Lord and Savior – our upcoming King, the one who was brought as a lamb to the slaughter and opened not his mouth – to WEEP?

Jesus had some very close and dear friends, Mary, Martha and Lazarus. One day Lazarus became sick and eventually died.  Afterward, when Jesus met Mary, she was very distraught, sad and weeping. Seeing his friend Mary in this state, Jesus groaned in His spirit and JESUS WEPT. (John 11:35) Because Jesus sincerely cared about his friend Mary, He felt her pain of losing her brother.  Romans 12:15b tells us ”…weep with them that weep”.

Jesus, our high priest, is our example as to how we are to be there for our brothers and sisters. When Jesus walked on earth for 33 years in the likeness of man, He cared about all people – the sick, lame and the infirmed. Even today Jesus cares about us and is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. (See Hebrews 4:15).  So when our brother or sister in Christ is grieving because of a death or because of some bad news which causes them anguish or sorrow, we, too, are to care and bear one another’s burdens.

The bible further tells us “if one member suffers all the members suffer with it…”  1 Corinthians 12:26a.  We need one another and we are to be kind one to another. Show compassion and be genuinely concerned; not to solicit information so you can talk about them but to be sympathetic, real, true and caring.  Remember. YOU HURT, I HURT!

Persecutions, afflictions and sufferings of all kind
Are the lot of those who live godly in Christ Jesus.
But the people of God do not take pleasure in the sufferings of others.
Because when you hurt, we hurt.

Distresses, oppressions and sicknesses may attack
Nevertheless, we know the devices of the evil one.
But the people of God lovingly surround the hurting soul.
Because when you hurt, we hurt.

I need you and you need me
We are all a part of God’s body
Be compassionate, caring and genuinely concerned
Because when you hurt, I hurt!
