2019: SEPTEMBER From the Editor-ARCHIVE

FROM THE EDITOR

This scripture is the foundation of the expressions penned by our Authors in this Edition.

Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

As we recognize special months of the year to focus on Suicide Prevention Awareness and Mental Health Awareness, let’s remember our loved ones, friends and members of the armed forces and other professions who may suffer in silence.  We salute those who have recognized symptoms that may cause mental health issues and pushed past the stigmas to seek counseling. For those who are not there yet, we continue to pray for your deliverance.

In this Edition, our authors have shared the importance of seeking counsel for various reasons.

Kwanza Gipson reveals her inspiring testimony proclaiming that Freedom is the Goal: A Christian Approach to Mental Health and Therapy.

Faythe Daniels educates us as a professional Middle School Counselor, and makes known the importance of this essential school resource.

Elder Jerry Woods teaches us that certain scriptures have salved many a restless spirit; yet, the same verse could be misapplied and used to mock those who belong to Christ and experience mental health issues.

Brian Smalls shares his expertise and admonishment of the importance of caring for the elderly, who may suffer from ailments that impair their judgment to properly care for themselves and their assets.

For all our readers, we share this video and pray that you are encouraged and strengthened to overcome any fear, anxiety or feeling of hopelessness.  Feel free to reach out to any one of our authors for advice/guidance in their respective expertise.

You are loved and your testimony is a part of your victory!  Remember, “In the Multitude of Counsellors there is Safety”
