Individuals who have been on Facebook for a few years are reminded daily through what they categorize as memories of things that were posted “on this day” going back about five years. It’s an interesting glimpse into the day’s happenings through pictures, quotes, videos, rants, and anything else that they were experiencing and more importantly, thinking. These thoughts are a direct correlation to our reality and ultimately the freedom we experience or the lack thereof.
As we swing into the second half of 2021, it’s crazy to think that a year ago we were in a full-blown pandemic lockdown. We were wearing masks inside and outside, scavenging for Lysol, hand sanitizer, toilet tissue, and canceling just about everything, wishing we could just hang out at a family member’s home. The freedom we knew and often took for granted was no more, so we thought. Those who opted to take an optimistic approach to 2020 began to wonder these things: God, what are you trying to show us? More importantly, what are you trying to show me, in me? Those two questions if asked can/will begin to reveal the freedom through restoration. How? I’m glad you asked. What most perceived as the hardest thing they’ve ever experienced, for a believer, it should have been the total opposite. Yes, the physical freedom was restricted, but the spiritual freedom was restored and heightened in so many. Through restricted freedom, prayer lives and our relationship with Abba were reset and restored.
Words can’t describe it, but there was a peace that surpassed all understanding during the midst of the pandemic. While others were in a panic, we rested. Those who seized the opportunity to sit and be still received revelation like never before. I know the stories of businesses that were birthed, individuals getting jobs and receiving pay raises while others were losing theirs, individuals getting the keys to new homes, restored relationships and the list goes on. Those freedom doors that were opened for the righteous and are still being opened — could only have been done by God.
So if you are reading this and wondering how can I tap into what God is doing or did I miss it? The answer is yes and no. The choice for freedom depends on you and your willingness to be obedient. The bible says in Isaiah 1:19 “IF you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land…” See being willing and obedient are choices, which start in your mind. Remember I shared with you earlier that what you think about is a direct correlation to your reality. Therefore, we must shift our mindset to unlock all that God has for us. Here are five steps to ensure your channel is turned to freedom:
- Shake off any negativity and that means the negative self-talk
- Renew Your Mind – Romans 12:2
- Check your pulse. What’s your current heart condition?
- Keep your heart right – Proverbs 4:23
- REPENT, REPENT, REPENT
- Recognize, True Remorse, Resolve and Turn – 2 Chronicles 7:14
- Sit/Pray before God with all of your questions, concerns, and desires
- Prayer is key – Colossians 4:2-4
- Develop a posture of expectation
- Look to the future and cling to God – Philippians 1:20
Once you have consistently been able to add those five things to your daily regimen you’ll begin to see the freedom you desire, a deeper relationship with your Heavenly Father, and a restored version of you, that others including yourself won’t be able to recognize.
