Haha, I’m sure that caught your attention so let me explain. So often we get caught up in life that we forget to live. Our days start running together and have become routine instead of living life to the fullest. We’ve tried to find balance, and we try so hard to find that balance that we end up worse off than we were before seeking it. We were all born with a body, mind, spirit and soul, but they all came without instructions, so we thought. Just like when a new baby arrives, you can read all of the books you like about what’s supposed to happen, but how many of you know there are a lot of missing chapters from the book? Let me ask you a question; what do you think controls the body, spirit and your soul? Yep, you guessed it, your mind, and your thoughts.
When you are living your life to the fullest, your mind, body, spirit and soul are interconnected. You’ve learned how to control them ALL and how to have them work for you and not the other way around. Now when you are a living corpse all of these things are alive and dead at the same time. Instead of you being in control of you, they are in control of you. Can you say out of whack?!?! Now, if you notice I didn’t say that things were in balance or out of balance. In my opinion, balance doesn’t exist. The only thing that does exist is your ability or inability to control your mind/thoughts. Once you’ve mastered that, you understand that nothing is completely controllable and you’re okay with that. You become so in tune with what your body, mind, spirit and soul are thirsting for that you know exactly what it needs, how much and when to give it.
Now, I’ve stressed the important role regarding your mind and thoughts. So, let me take it a step further. Before you were conceived in your mother’s womb, there was this AWESOME individual with great powers, ruler over everything and PERFECT in ALL His ways…I call Him Abba Father. In you, He placed everything you/we/I need to survive this game of life, but there is one caveat you must keep your mind on Him at all times (Isa 26:3 NLT). Whoa-Did He say at ALL times? Yes, indeed Why? Remember I shared with you at the beginning of this article that we were given all of these wonderful parts of our body, our being, but they came without the instructions. Well, God has the instructions because He is the maker. Now, if it was important for you to control your mind/thoughts to control your body, spirit, and soul; wouldn’t it be important for you to check in with the individual who can guide you? You can only control those things that you have control over. Those other things are variables. You don’t know when, where, or from whom, but God does.
Here are some ways to ensure that you are a living vessel and not a living corpse:
- To tap into ALL that God has for you, you must read and apply His word. Luke 24:45 (NLT) states, “Then He opened their minds to understand the scriptures.” If you’re going to go back to the manufacturer, at least read the instructions/commands, He’s already given you.
- Be cautious of what you allow to come out of your mouth. Proverbs 16:24 (NLT) states, “Kind words are like honey- sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” So, if kind words are like honey; what are mean words? Hmmm, I’ll let you ponder on that.
- Check your Heart. Proverbs 4 (NLT) “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Your heart is central to your emotions and will; don’t let it be hardened.
So I ask you; are you a living corpse? God loves you and desires so much for you, but you have to be willing to let Him in. The mind, body, spirit and soul are designed to operate like a well-oiled machine, and when one area breaks down, it causes the others to work harder to keep you going. It’s time to start living your life as God intended. Why? Because you are WORTH IT!
