Dear Teachable Moment Subscriber,
I know you are richly Blessed by the reading of this informative publication. Each issue gives words of wisdom to aid every believer in our walk with the Lord.
The Gospel Spreading Church of God, founded by the late Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux and Sister Mary Eliza Michaux, has a special service to celebrate our Centennial Year by the Grace of God. We are inviting all members of the community to join us in this time of worship, reflection, and praise. As the church’s Bishop, I would like to extend my personal invitation to you and any family and friends who are able to join you.
Our 100th Anniversary Celebration is planned in the Newport News/Hampton, Virginia area on August 7 – 11, 2019. I know you will be warmly welcomed!
I am abundantly blessed to lead a congregation bound in the unity of their love for Christ, their church family, and this great community. Along with the rest of the church officers and our members, I am grateful for this opportunity to have people from all over our community join us in giving thanks for our many blessings and celebrating God’s goodness through songs of praise, prayer, the reading of His word, and other activities planned for the week-long celebration. I pray you will be able to join us and that you will be filled with the joy of the Lord.
Should you need additional information, directions or any other assistance we can provide, please contact us at 202-387-1471 or email us at centennial@gospelspreadingchurch.org. In His Service,
Elder Michael A. Clayton, Sr.
Church focus and goals: Under Bishop Clayton’s leadership the Philadelphia Church has developed and articulated its mission and goals. The four goals focus on: (1) Prayer, then action (which includes Outreach) (2) Learning and applying the Word of God (in our everyday lives) including Discipleship lessons (3) Practical and holy living (Romans 12) and (4) Authentic Fellowship – by means of the one another commands.
Personal Interest: Bishop Clayton’s passion is education. He loves to teach and learn as evidenced in his long and productive career as a professional educator. His career has spanned more than 34 years and includes classroom teacher, principal, area administrator and regional superintendent. He believes we are all lifelong learners.
Favorite Scripture: Bishop Clayton’s favorite Bible verse and one which guides his life is Galatians 2:20. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
